Read It! Write it!
Read the article from Scholastic Magazine, Week 2, Day 10. Take a side in the debate–yes or no–and write an opinion paragraph supporting your reasoning. You can use this “oreo” graphic organizer to help you plan your paragraph. Here are examples of opinion paragraphs that show the Opinions, Reasons, and Examples for two students’ opinions on another topic.

While on a family walk, choose a landmark ahead and estimate how many steps it will take to get there. Then, count your steps to that landmark. How close to your estimate? About how many feet (the unit of measurement, not your feet!) would that be? Can you convert that to inches?
