Muncha, Muncha, Muncha
Spring time is planting time! We can learn a lot from planting and taking care of a garden. You may wish to plant a garden outside, or start a window sill garden by planting in a cup. You can make observations about your growing seeds and learn about the things that plants need to grow and be healthy.

Today’s Activities

Listen/Read

Listen to the story, Muncha, Muncha, Muncha.. Then, make puppets to retell the story. Remember to include the characters, setting, and story events.

The book “Muncha, Muncha, Muncha” uses lots of fun words to describe how we eat. Pretend you are holding a carrot or an apple. Show how you would GOBBLE, MUNCH, GNAW, NIBBLE, CHEW, and CHOMP. Yum!!

Writing

Draw a picture showing your favorite part of the story. Write a sentence about it. Practice counting syllables by going on a syllable scavenger hunt. Download the hunt from this link.

We can find the number of syllables in a word by clapping once for each “big part” of the word we hear. For example, clap the word “carrot.” CAR – ROT. 2 claps means 2 syllables. Using these pictures of fruits and vegetables, how many syllables are in each word?

Make a garden!

Plant a windowsill garden. You may plant a seed in a cup and engineer a fence around it toprotect it from little munchers. Observe your seed daily. Record the changes that you see.
