Today’s Activities

Listen

Listen to the story – “Plant the tiny seed” by Christie Matheson as you listen to the story, do the motions along with the reader. Think about how the seed grows? What does it need to grow? What does the life cycle look like?

write

How does your garden grow? Use this template to write a sentence, or how to grow a garden. Use words such as first, next, also, last. Remember to include a capital letter at the beginning, spaces between your words, and punctuation at the end.

Have an adult write your sentences for you using a highlighter, then you trace over the writing. How do you plant a flower?

Draw a picture to represent each step of how to plant a flower. What do you do first, second, third, last?

number codes!

Let’s practice number recognition as we color this worksheet by code to create a beautiful spring garden. After you color your picture turn your page over, and write your numbers 0-20.

Before beginning this activity, color the code on top to use as a visual.

Parents – you can start with one color, and model which number should be colored using that color. Practice doing one color at a time.  Use a highlighter on the back to write the numbers 0-20, then have your child trace over each number with their pencil.

Give your child a break before completing the next math activity, grab some play-doh, and let’s work on our hand strength. Let’s roll, squeeze, and flatten our playdoh. Can you form numbers?
