Writing Prompt
Write a short story about a character who never washes their hands. What would life be like for that character? Make sure you add diaglouge between characters and a moral to the story. Remeber- your story must have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Have fun and be creative!

Watch this video from the Exploratorium modeling how soap deactivates the Coronavirus. Read the CDC article titled “Show Me the Science – How to Wash Your Hands” Use the information you learned from these two sources to create your PSA.

Draw a picture showing others how to wash hands.

Choose a different article about an invention to read today. Using the text, complete Lesson 3 pages 1 & 2 of the Student Edition workbook titled: How to Make _____Manual. (page 5)
Get out and Move
Continue with your journal of daily activities. Perhaps try an actvity you haven’t tried in awhile. Four-square, hop-scotch, jump rope, or…?
Pause this video after each different movement and practice it before resuming the video. Make sure your student is trying his or her best to copy the moves in real time when you re-start the video.
If your student is struggling you can stand next to or behind them and help them do the moves by helping their arms or legs make the movements. For our students who struggle with mobility or motivation, try this from a seated position and just try to copy the hand motions. Remember, Foucs on having FUN!

Create an art campaign to help get kids to wash their hands. Draw or create a catchy PSA online to get your peers to WASH THOSE HANDS. Be creative. Also, create a 20 second song/poem/rhyme to help kids remember how to wash their hands. Maybe even create a video to help send your message.

Teaching at home
Have your student be as creative as possible while creating their campaign. Make sure they read about the scientific reasoning behind hand washing and then let their creativity run free with a 20 sec song, an art campaign or PSA, and a short story about a character that never washes their hands. This is a great activity to do together or even with younger siblings. Have fun!
