The park is home to about 30 species of coral. Learn about these corals by visiting the National Parks Service, you’ll find out about two species of threatened coral: elkhorn and staghorn.

History

When you visit The Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson, you are treated to one of the most unique National Parks in the world. Not only are you surrounded by a vast expanse of sea, sky, sandy beaches, and coral reef, but you step into a park rich in history including a 19th-century fort, The Civil War, and its most famous prisoner, Dr. Samuel Mudd, who was imprisoned for his involvement in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

Let's Move!

First, have your child do some warm-up stretches: 10-15 arm circles (front and backward), 15 jumping jacks, running in place for 30 seconds, 10 leg squats, 10 push-ups, and sit-ups then go to GoNoodle and have your child pick a couple of PE/Dance videos.
